Description

The extensive and rapid upswing of AI in Germany is being met by a diverse and efficient industrial
and academic landscape that – by virtue of its innovative strength, expertise, and professionalism –
offers excellent conditions for realizing the full potential of “AI made in Germany”. Thereby, the decisive
factor for a prosperous future is the utilization of the location's own strengths. On the one hand,
these are the know-how and the capacity to develop and manufacture industrial products in which
highly specialized hardware and software are synergistically combined. The global chip crisis has
dramatically highlighted the importance of homemade microelectronics for German industry. AI
needs processors and Dresden, as the center of the European semiconductor industry, is of particular
importance in this respect. On the other hand, Germany's scientific strength lies especially in the
diversity of AI methods and applications, which are researched here at the highest international
level. In Dresden and Leipzig, a specific regional strength is an active landscape of innovative hightech
startups with AI relevance.
